Personal Care
What types of help can you get?
If you are receiving Personal Care, you may be being assisted to shower or bath, have assistance going to the toilet, dressing/undressing and washing/drying your hair or shaving.
You may be receiving assistance with cleaning and fitting your dentures and if needed, education and assistance with incontinence and urodome fitting.
A night sitter or sleepover support service can also be provided.
These services can help support you to safely remain in your own home when you have a temporary or permanent disability.
These services are available seven days a week if required.
Accessing the Service
You may be referred by your general practitioner (G.P.) a Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) agency, through the hospital system or through ACC.
Where you have been assessed by any of the agencies above as having a need, public funding is available for the services and you do not have to pay.
Where you do not qualify for public funding, you may also pay personally.
